Box Score DE PERE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team completed a critical early season sweep of ninth-ranked and defending NCHA Postseason Champion St. Norbert College on Saturday, winning 4-1.

Much like Friday night's contest, the Green Knights drew first blood. After a scoreless first period, which saw St. Norbert out-shoot the Saints 14-6, the Green Knights broke through one minute and 47 seconds in the second period on a Laurel Hill power-play goal.

The Saints responded at the 13-minute mark with a power-play goal by, the youngest Waidacher, Isabel Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Graubunden Canton School (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)). Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) and Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) were credited with the assists.

Then midway through the period, the eldest Waidacher, Monika Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftsschule KV Chur (Swiss National Team)) scored an unassisted goal to put the Saints in front 2-1. Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) completed the Waidacher trifecta with an even-strength goal with 2:39 left in the period to make it 3-1 Saints at the second intermission. Isabel and Kelly Ahlgren (Hayward, Wis./Hayward HS) had the assists.

Nina would add an empty net goal with 20 seconds left in the game to make the final score 4-1 Saints.

Freshman Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) performed well in the net once again for the Saints, stopping 29 of 30 shots. Kaley Gibson had 24 saves in the loss for the Green Knights (3-2-1, 1-2-1 NCHA).

The Saints (5-0-1, 4-0-0 NCHA) will be back at home next weekend when they welcome Lake Forest College (Ill.) to Mars Lakeview Arena for a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series. Friday's contest will begin at 7 p.m. The action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
