Watt Powers Saints Over Vikings; CSS Wins Sixth Straight

| By:
Box Score MANKATO, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) tallied a hat trick and added a pair of assists as the St. Scholastica men's soccer team easily defeated Bethany Lutheran for a 6-0 road victory. The win is the sixth straight for the Saints.

CSS wasted no time jumping out ahead early as Watt and Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS) provided the first half offensive firepower. Watt netted his first of three goals courtesy of an Andrew Xotta-Dickson (Adelaide, South Australia/Prince Alfred College (Anoka Ramsey CC)) & Tom Corcoran (Warrington, England/Great Sankey HS, Priestley College) assist in the ninth minute. Less than 60 seconds later, the Saints would strike again, as Jenkins scored his 11th goal of the season. Watt and Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School) were credited with the assist. Watt would bury his second goal of the half later on in the 27th minute to push the score to 3-0 as Jenkins and Xotta-Dickson were credited with assists. Not to be outdone, Jenkins tapped in the Morgan pass for his second goal of the half as well, just four minutes after Watt's score. CSS would not score for the remainder of the half, as the horn sounded with the Saints up 4-0.

St. Scholastica came out firing in the second half as well, and added a pair of insurance goals to eliminate any chance of a Viking comeback.  Corcoran nailed the left corner of the net in the 62nd minute as Watt was credited with his second assist. Roughly five minutes later, Watt would take advantage of a free kick to complete the hat trick for the final goal of the game, giving the Saints a 6-0 shutout victory.

Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) made four saves in the contest in the third consecutive shutout for St. Scholastica. Noah Heidorn made nine saves in the loss for the Vikings.

The Saints will put their winning streak and unblemished conference record on the line again tomorrow as CSS faces Martin Luther in New Ulm tomorrow at noon. Live stats will be available on csssaints.com.
