Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team captured the 2013 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season title on Saturday when it defeated Crown College 11-0 at Saints Field.
Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS) fired up the Saints in the eighth minute when he scored the first goal of the game with an assist by
Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College). That tally tied Neil Runbeck's program record of 57 career goals. In the 22nd minute, Jenkins would score again, not only breaking the program record for career goals, but also breaking his own record for goals in a season with his 26th of the year.
The Saints third goal came from Watt on a penalty kick in the 25th minute. Four minutes later, Jenkins scored on a one touch pass from
Ben Cullen (Clough, Northern Ireland/Shimna Integrated College).
Tom Corcoran (Warrington, England/Great Sankey HS, Priestley College) scored in the 33rd minute assisted by Watt and Gunnar O'Neill. Less than 90 seconds later, Corcoran scored his second goal of the game assisted by Jenkins and Watt.
The Saints were up by six goals at the end of the half.
Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) had only one shot with a save.
Bryan Nyberg (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) took over for Hewitt in the second half. Nyberg needed only to make one save.
The Saints struck one minute into the second half when Watt passed it to Jenkins, who dropped it for Corcoran for his 20th goal of the season and fourth hat trick of the year. Watt is just two assists shy of the NCAA Division III record for assists in a season.
In the 52nd minute
Antony Blackburn (Derby, England/John Port School) and Corcoran helped Jenkins score his fourth goal of the game. Five minutes later, Jenkins would tally another goal for his 29th goal of the season and 61st of his career. It was the second time this season Jenkins scored five goals in a game, tying a program record. Only 13 NCAA Division III players have ever scored 30 goals in a season.
At 77:46, O'Neill tallied his first goal of the season when he got past Storm goalkeeper Hunter Foss.
The 11th goal of the game came from
Trevor Clark (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) assisted by O'Neill. It was Clark's first goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Hunter Foss made 14 saves for the game as the Saints outshot the Storm 42-3.
