DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team will be traveling to Moorhead this weekend, with games scheduled on Friday and Saturday at the Cobber Classic.

Caleb Yurek (Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) was named UMAC Defensive Player of the Week. Yurek led a CSS defense that allowed just one goal all weekend against solid regional competition.

Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) earned UMAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal on a penalty kick vs. Macalester College on Saturday in the 79th minute.

Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) recorded his first shutout of the season as the Saints downed Macalester College 1-0.

Hewitt made nine saves in his first two games with his only goal allowed coming just one minute and 56 seconds into the season vs. UW-Whitewater.

Yurek, Tom Corcoran (Warrington, England/Great Sankey HS, Priestley College) and Ben Cullen (Clough, Northern Ireland/Shimna Integrated College) were also named to the Advantage Emblem Cup All-Tournament team.

Concordia downed UMAC foe Minnesota Morris 4-0 Tuesday, with four different players scoring goals despite only seven shots.

Junior keeper Peter Runquist and the Cobber defense recorded their second consecutive shutout with the victory. Runquist has not allowed a goal in the last 188 minutes of play.

Junior forward Kristian Reiersgord recorded his second goal in two games off a free kick from 28 yards out after scoring the lone goal against UW-Superior.

Despite allowing 21 shots and playing a man down the final 19 minutes, Concordia defeated UW-Superior 1-0 Sunday.

With Sunday's win over UW-Superior, head coach Ben Schneweis earned his first collegiate coaching victory after losing his coaching debut 4-0 to UW-Whitewater in the 2012 Advantage Emblem Cup at St. Scholastica.

The Saints fell to the Cobbers last season in Moorhead by a score 1-0 in overtime. Ethan Vogel netted the game winner for Concordia eight minutes into the first overtime.
