Box Score DULUTH, Minn. – In a game that was suspended 10 days ago in Ashland Wis. and resumed today at Kenwood Field, the St. Scholastica softball team defeated Northland College 7-3 for its 14th straight victory.

10 days ago in Ashland, Wis., CSS won the first game of a doubleheader 11-3 in six innings. In game two, the Saints scored in the top of the first on a Bonnie Kowalczyk (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls HS) RBI ground out. The 'Jills then answered with three runs in the bottom frame to take a 3-1 lead. Darcy Roach (East Grand Forks, Minn./Sacred Heart HS) scored on a wild pitch in the second and Kowalczyk, along with Molly Jazdzewski (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) scored on wild pitches in the third.

CSS had runners on second and third with two outs in the third with Merryssa Tiedeman (Zumbrota, Minn/Zumbrota-Mazeppa HS) at the plate when the rains came and washed out play for the day. The Saints and 'Jills decided to resume the game today at Kenwood Field as Northland was scheduled to play doubleheader with the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

With the rains this morning, the start was delayed two hours and 45 minutes and the Northland, UW-Superior would be played also at Kenwood Field following the CSS contest.

Once play finally got started the Saints added another run when Jordan Spiering (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored on a Northland error to make it 6-3. Andrea Wick (New Prague, Minn./New Prague HS) took over for the Saints in the bottom of the third and proceeded to toss five shut out innings, despite Northland having runners in scoring position in four of the five innings.

The Saints added another run in the top of the sixth on a Kowalczyk RBI double to make the final score 7-3. The loss drops the 'Jills to 16-18 overall and 9-8 in the conference.

Wick picks up her second win in as many days, striking out four and scattering four hits. CSS managed just four hits with Kowalczyk recorded two RBIs.

The Saints (24-8, 15-1 UMAC) will be at home again tomorrow when they take on Martin Luther College for one game starting at 5:45 p.m. That is a make-up game from a scheduled doubleheader on April 13th.
