DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica softball team will play seven games this week, beginning with a split doubleheader against Northwestern College and Crown College on Tuesday at Kenwood Field. The Saints will also complete a suspended game against Northland College on Wednesday at noon at home.

The Saints will enter Tuesday's contests on an 11-game winning streak … CSS currently holds a four-game lead in the loss column for first place in the conference … If the Saints win both games Tuesday and their game vs. Northland on Wednesday, they can sew up the conference championship with the UMAC Crossover remaining … The Saints may also find a make-up date to play Martin Luther College … Theresa Tauer (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) excelled at the plate last week for the Saints, batting .684 with 14 RBIs … She has recorded at least one RBI in the last eight straight games and has recorded three or more RBIs in game in four of the last six games … Molly Jazdzewski (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) also swung the bat well over the weekend, hitting four home runs in a two-day, three-game span and driving in 12 … Jazdzewski has recorded a hit in 12 straight games … Bonnie Kowalczyk (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls HS) has reached base in 13 straight games and leads the team with 41 RBIs … Darcy Roach (East Grand Forks, Minn./Sacred Heart HS) seems to be getting stronger as the season progresses as she won all five starts last week, including striking out a career-high 13 Morris batters in the game one win on Sunday … She has earned the win inside the pitching circles in nine of the Saints' last 10 games.

Northwestern Eagles (14-18, 9-6 UMAC)
The Eagles, who were picked to finish second in the conference, according to the preseason coaches' poll, split both of their doubleheaders this past weekend against Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran … After defeating the Saints in the first game of a doubleheader in St. Paul, then Eagles dropped the second game and then were swept by Northland College and lost the first game against Minnesota Morris … The Eagles are led at the plate by Briana Rodgers, who is batting .412 with 18 RBIs … Lauren Walker leads the team with 29 RBIs … The Eagles are hitting only .265 as a team … Molly Johnsen, who shutdown the Saints earlier this season, leads the team with a 2.84 earned run average and 99 strikeouts.
