Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica softball team was victorious in all three contests on Saturday, beating Martin Luther College 5-2 in the morning cap, and then sweeping Bethany Lutheran 8-0 and 3-2 in the afternoon doubleheader at Kenwood Field.

The Saints began the day with a making up yesterday's postponement of the doubleheader with Martin Luther College. The teams would only be able to get in one game as Martin Luther had to travel to Ashland, Wis. to face Northland College in doubleheader.

With the wind blowing in, the Saints got one run in the bottom of the second when Molly Jazdzewski (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) scored on a passed ball. CSS then plated four runs in the bottom of the third with two runs coming on a Bonnie Kowalczyk (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls HS) double. Emily Schiro (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Armstrong HS) and Darcy Roach (East Grand Forks, Minn./Sacred Heart HS) added RBIs in the inning to make it 5-0.

The Knights (4-11, 3-3 UMAC) added two runs in the fourth, but it wouldn't be enough as the Saints prevailed 5-2. Roach matched a season-high with 10 strikeouts to earn the win. Merryssa Tiedeman (Zumbrota, Minn/Zumbrota-Mazeppa HS) had a pair of hits to lead the CSS offense.

In the first afternoon contest, the Saints plated six runs in the third inning coming off of two hits which included a Molly Jazdzewski (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) two-RBI double.  The Saints scored on bases loaded consecutive walks as well.  In the fourth inning, the Saints scored two more runs on a two RBI double by Bonnie Kowalczyk (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls HS).  The Vikings were unable to score in the fifth inning and the Saints went on to win 8-0 in five innings.
Roach picked up her second win of the day, striking out seven batters while walking none.  Jazdzewski paced the CSS offense with two hits while three other players had a hit apiece.

In the second game between the two teams, the Saints were able to strike first in the opening inning with a Theresa Tauer (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) two-run home run.  Jazdzewski would have an RBI single later in the inning.  Bethany made things interesting with runs scored in the fourth and seventh innings to cut the lead to 3-2 in favor of the Saints.  A timely double-play in the seventh inning  stopped the Viking momentum and the Saints would hold on to win 3-2.

The Vikings (8-19, 4-5 UMAC) were held in check both games, only having eight total hits combined while committing two errors total.

The Saints in the second game saw Jordan Spiering (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) pitch 6.2 innings until being relieved by Roach who picked up the save.  Spiering struck out four while giving up two earned runs.  Offensively for the Saints in the second game, Kowalczyk had two hits while Tauer had two RBIs.  The Saints wore pink jerseys in support of the StrikeOut Cancer Campaign.

The Saints (15-8, 7-1 UMAC) will now travel to Northland College tomorrow for a doubleheader with the first game set to start at 1 pm local time.  Check into csssaints.com for details about the games.
