Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Just a day after a 4-4 tie,
Michelle Rebeck (St. Andrews, Manitoba/Balmoral Hall) and
Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) tallied three assists apiece as the St. Scholastica women's hockey team exploded for eight goals on 47 shots in a convincing 8-1 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon at Mars Lakeview Arena.
CSS jumped out to an early lead as
Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) scored a power-play goal off of an
Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) assist to put the Saints up 1-0 under four minutes into the contest. The Saints would receive their second goal with seven minutes left in the period as
Briana Stephens (Chicago, Ill./Hopkins HS (Minn.)) tallied her first of the year.
Michelle Rebeck (St. Andrews, Manitoba/Balmoral Hall) and
Kaitlin Johnston (Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater HS) were both credited with an assist.
The Saints would quickly push their lead to 3-0 as
Monika Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftsschule KV Chur (Swiss National Team)) found the back of the net with three minutes left in the period off an assist from
Jordy Klimek (Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS). The Saints would add one more goal in the first as
Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) tallied a power-play score off of an assist from
Gina Dodge (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minn.-Duluth)) and Blair, her second of three assists on the afternoon.
The Saints continued to apply the pressure, as Blair was on the receiving end of an assist this time, as she found the back of the net on a
Monika Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftsschule KV Chur (Swiss National Team)) assist with 28 seconds left in the second period.
The Saints piled on another three goals in the third period as well.
Brenna Flatley (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) scored an unassisted goal just under five minutes in, and Johnston scored at 8:40 courtesy of Rebeck's second assist of the game.
Rebeck was credited with her third assist just two minutes after, as she found Brittany Berger to push the score to 8-0 with nine minutes left. The Falcons got on the board with eight minutes remaining as Maxine Blohowiak scored, pushing the final to 8-1.
Teraysa White (Belgrade, Maine/Brewster Academy (New England College)) stopped 31 shots to earn her first win in a Saints uniform. For Concordia (1-3-1, 0-1-1 NCHA), Andrea Mizansey had 39 saves in the losing effort. The Saints were 2-for-5 on the power-play, while the Falcons were 0-for-6.
The Saints (1-0-1, 1-0-1 NCHA) will be at St. Norbert College next weekend for a two-game series. Action begins Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
