PREVIEW: Women’s Hockey to Open up Second Half Play at Home Tuesday Night

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team will begin the second part of its season on Tuesday night at Mars Lakeview Arena when it plays host to St. Olaf College in a non-conference contest.

Last Action:
The Saints went 1-0-1 against fellow conference opponent Adrian College (Mich.) on December 11th and 12th at Mars Lakeview Arena. The Saints rallied from two goals down in both games, winning the first game on a Jordy Klimek (Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) power-play goal in the final two minutes and then scoring two, third period goals to tie the Bulldogs on the second night.

St. Scholastica Saints (7-2-1)
Tuesday's game will be the first non-conference game of the season for the Saints … It begins a five-game stretch where the Saints play out of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) … CSS has already matched its win total from its inaugural season and have recorded more points in conference play … The Saints are unbeaten in their last six games, which is currently the sixth-longest streak in Division III … The Saints, who were 3-15 when tied for trailing after two periods last season are 3-2-1 in that situation thus far this season … They are 4-0 in one-goal games, compared to 2-10 last season  … CSS scored 48 goals all of last season and already have 43 goals this year … Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) continues to lead the nation in points per game (2.20), while her sister Monika Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftsschule KV Chur (Swiss National Team)) is fifth in the nation at 1.70 points per game … Captain Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) is tied fourth in the country with 1.10 assists per game … Jordy Klimek (Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) scored goals in both games over Adrian on her way to being named NCHA Women's Player of the Week … In net, Shannon Connolly (Toronto, Ontario/Havergal College) and Sheridan Friesen (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Ontario Hockey Academy) both have a sub-3.00 goals-against-averages … Connolly has a pair of shutouts this season and has stopped 116 shots.

St. Olaf Oles (4-3-3)
The Oles enter second half play on Tuesday after closing the first half winners of four of their last five games … St. Olaf has already played in five overtime games this season with a record of 1-1-3 in those games … The Oles are coming off a sweep of conference opponent Saint Mary's in early December … Tuesday's game will be exactly one month since St. Olaf's last game … Taylor Orr leads the Oles in scoring with five goals, while Nicole Stumpf's three goals and team-high eight assists leads the team with 11 points … Ali McKeever and Sam Ubl have split time in net this season … McKeever has three of the four wins and has a .913 save percentage … All three of St. Olaf's losses this season have come on the road … So far this season the Oles are 0-2-1 against NCHA teams.
