BEMIDJI, Minn. – Justin Hanson (Atwater, Minn./Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City HS) broke his own program record in the 60-meter hurdles for the second straight meet this season as the St. Scholastica men's track & field team competed at the Super 8 Open, hosted by Bemidji State University.

After breaking his previous record in the preliminaries, Hanson posted a school record time again of 8.54 seconds in the 60-meter hurdle finals to place second overall.

Alex Horoshak (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) also had a second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 20'-5” (6.22m). Horoshak was also fifth in the 400-meter dash. In his first meet back in a Saints uniform, Samora Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee Pius XI (UW-Whitewater)) was fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.21 seconds. He was also fifth in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 23.31 seconds.

Benjamin Carlson (Crosby, Minn./Crosby-Ironton HS) was third in the triple jump with a distance of 39'-5” (12.01m). Tom Lyscio (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) was fourth in the weight throw with toss of 49'-11.25” (15.22m).

Every school competing at the meet, other than CSS and the University of Wisconsin-Superior, were a NCAA Division II program or a NAIA scholarship program. That meant CSS and UWS were the only non-scholarship programs competing.

The Saints will be in the Twin Ports next Saturday when they take part in the Blizzard Open, hosted by UW-Superior. Action is scheduled to begin at noon.
