Last Action:

The men's soccer team was last in action on Monday when it faced off with Carleton College. St. Scholastica defeated Carleton 2-1 in overtime on a penalty kick from Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College). Watt had both goals in the game for CSS, the first coming on an assist from Kyle Farrar (Sevenoaks, England/Kelsey Park Sports College). Sam Reed (Eastbourne, England/Causeway School) had seven saves on his way to win number two on the season.

St. Scholastica Saints (2-0-0)
The Saints have started off the season well, beating Macalester College and Carleton College, the two teams picked to finish as co-champs of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) in 2011. With early production from young men such as Watt (sophomore) and Farrar (freshman), the Saints can breathe a little bit easier after losing nine seniors from last year's NCAA tournament team. Reed, the senior goalkeeper, has started off the season well also; going 2-0 with 14 saves in the 2011 season thus far. Reed still sits two shutouts, and five wins away from a CSS record.

Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers (1-2-0)
The Cobbers started off the season with a win, but have lost two straight since then to Wartburg and Minn., Morris. The Cobbers have had a slow offensive season thus far, with only one goal on 37 shots in their three games. Riley McGlynn was far and away the Cobbers leading point scorer last season with 42 and returns for his senior season. However, the Cobbers did lose their next three top scorers, and will look to Jared Rice and Matt Glogoza to pick up some of the offensive production this year.

Last Meeting: (CSS All-Time Record vs. Concordia: 8-10-0)
The Saints and Cobbers last met in 2010 at the Advantage Emblem Cup. The Cobbers came out ahead in that one, 2-1.

Augustana Vikings (2-0-0)
The Vikings have started off the season strong, with a win on the road at Grinnell and a victory over Cornell at home. Early in the season, Augustana has found offensive production from Sean Fidlow once again in 2011, as he led the team in 2010 with 14 points. Fidlow has four points on the year on two goals so far. The next two leading scorers for the Vikings, John McSpadden and Matt Shipon, also have points early in the season, having two and one respectively. Augustana returns their young goalkeeper, Tyler Cowherd (sophomore) back to the team, and he has started both games in goal for them the Vikings this year, giving him a 2-0 record.

Last Meeting:
This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.

Women's Soccer

Last Action:
The women's soccer team last took the field on Monday for the last day of the Advantage Emblem Cup. The Saints fell just short to No. 11 Carleton College, 2-1 in that game. Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) had the lone goal for CSS late in the first half.

St. Scholastica Saints (1-2-0)
The Saints haven't had the start to the season they were looking for, with early losses to Macalester College and No. 11 Carleton College. The lone win for the Saints came in the 2011 Advantage Emblem Cup against the University of Dubuque Spartans, 2-0. Last year's leading scorer Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) had both goals for the Saints in that game, and looks to provide offense again this year. Another bright spot for the Saints is the freshman, Kehtel, who already has a goal this season for CSS. Although goalkeeper Bailey Mahlum (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck HS) is winless on the season, she has already made 20 saves in two starts, and looks to have a solid season in goal, splitting time with her senior counterpart, Molly Bergmann (Walker, Minn./Walker-Hackensack-Akeley HS).

No. 17 Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers (1-0-1)
The Cobbers were ranked number 25 in the preseason poll, and backed it up in their first game of the season, downing Luther College 3-1. The next game wasn't so easy, as a scrappy Wartburg College team jumped ahead of the Cobbers 2-0 in their next game before the Concordia rallied back to force a 2-2 double overtime tie. The Cobbers return their leading scorer from last season in Sarah Rounds, who already has four points on two goals in the 2011 campaign. The Cobbers also return their starting goalkeeper from last season, Ali Nelson, who has a 0-0-1 record this season, while her teammate and fellow goalkeeper, Haley Haddock, has the lone win for Concordia this season. Concordia will face off with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Friday before facing the Saints Saturday.

Last Meeting: (CSS All-Time Record vs. Concordia: 2-10-0)
The Saints and Cobbers last met at the 2010 Advantage Emblem Cup. The Cobbers beat the Saints in overtime, 2-1.

St. Olaf Oles (2-0-0)
The Oles started off the season right with an early victories over UW-River Falls (2-1) and Luther College (2-1 2OT). St. Olaf returns their top three scorers a season ago in Catie Christoffel, Lindsay Howard and Amanda Leone. Howard scored both goals in the Oles double overtime thriller against Luther, with Christoffel assisting one of them. Sophomore Emma Crumley and freshman Danielle Larson both scored goals in game one, giving St. Olaf a little more confidence in its young players. The Oles lost their goalkeeper from last year, Elizabeth Huggins, but return Nora Forbes, who played in seven games last season on her way to a 4-2-0 record, including two shutouts. The Oles will also play UW-La Crosse in the Cobber Classic before facing CSS.

Last Meeting: (CSS All-Time Record vs. St. Olaf: 0-8-0)
