CLERMONT, Fla. – The offense struggled for the St. Scholastica softball team in a pair of losses on Wednesday to Babson College (Mass.) and SUNY-Geneseo 3-0 and 3-1, respectively.
 
In the first game of the day against Babson, the Saints did not record a single hit in the 3-0 defeat. Despite not picking up any hits the Saints still had chances to get runs on the board. The Beavers (6-4) scored all three of their runs in the top of the first inning.

CSS had runners on second and third with two outs in the third inning and also had a runner at third in the fifth inning. The Saints left more runners on base than the Beavers, 5-4.

#Jen Falk# picked up the loss for the Saints and also walked twice at the plate. Christina Miquel earned the no hitter for Babson. Coming into the game she had a 7.41 earned run average. The last time the Saints were no-hit was in 2003 in a 3-0 loss to Dordt College (Iowa).

In the second game of the day, the Saints recorded five hits and pushed a run across, but it wasn't enough in 3-1 loss to SUNY-Geneseo.

After the Knights (3-3) scored a run in the bottom of the first, CSS tied the game in the second on a #Rachel Perushek# RBI-triple. However, Geneseo took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame on a two-run double to make it 3-1.

The Saints threatened in the top of the seventh, putting runners at first and second with one out, but could not convert a run.

Jen Falk (Altona, Manitoba/W.C. Miller Collegiate (Rainy River CC)) pitched the first three innings to pick up the loss. #Darcy Roach# pitched the last three innings and allowed just three hits and struck out three. Five different Saints had hits in the game.

The Saints will have the day off tomorrow and will be back in action again on Friday to face Ripon College (Wis.) and 24th-ranked SUNY-Cortland. The Ripon game will begin at 9:45 a.m. local time.
