For the second night in a row the St. Scholastica women's hockey team came back from a two goal deficit but Monday night's game ended in a 2-2 tie with the Adrian College Bulldogs at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The tie with the Bulldogs (5-5-2, 3-5-2 NCHA) is the first for CSS this season and the Saints sit in third place in the NCHA with 15 points.

Just as it was in last night's game, the first period was a quiet one in Duluth.  Shannon Connolly (Toronto, Ontario/Havergal College) made 13 saves for the Saints and Brittany Zeches made seven for the Bulldogs to keep the teams scoreless at the end of period one.

The second period began much the same as the first period with no score almost halfway through.  The tie would be broken when Brooke Zaleski scored unassisted to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

The game began to look like a mirror image of Sunday night's contest when Hannah McGowan scored a power play goal for the Bulldogs to give them their second 2-0 lead of the series.

Zeches would once again shut out the Saints in the second period and the Bulldogs took a two goal advantage into the final period.

In the third the Bulldogs were putting pressure on the Saints during a power play when Adrian's Courtney Millar committed a five minute major boarding penalty.

The Saints would take advantage of the penalty when Alana Levido (Richmond, British Columbia/Burnaby North Secondary (Pacific Steelers)) scored her first career goal to cut the Bulldog lead to one.  Jordy Klimek (Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) and Courtney Esse (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS (UW-Superior)) were credited with assists on the play.

Since it was a major penalty on Adrian, the power play resumed for the Saints and they would put in another when Klimek showed late game heroics for the second night in a row to tie the game at two.  Malin Zetterberg (Stockholm, Sweden/Huddinge Gymnasium) and Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) assisted Klimek on the score.

Both goaltenders fended off a few shots in the remaining four minutes to send the game into overtime.

The Saints and Bulldogs both had power play opportunities in overtime period but both goaltenders held strong once again with Connolly making a couple saves and Zeches making four of her own as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Connolly made 29 saves on the night and with the tie her record now sits at 4-1-1.

For Klimek it was her second goal in as many nights with last night's being the game-winner.  She now has ten points on the year with four goals and six assists.

Levido's first career goal gives her five total points this season as she also has four assists.  Zetterberg and Esse's assists give them each six points on the year.

The Saints (7-2-1, 7-2-1 NCHA) will be off until 2012 when they will play host to St. Olaf College (4-3-3) on January 3 at Mars Lakeview Arena at 7 p.m.  The action can be seen live on GameCentral at csssaints.com.
