Kyle Farrar (Sevenoaks, England/Kelsey Park Sports College) recorded four goals and
Rob Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) three goals in the St. Scholastica men's soccer team's 9-0 victory over Martin Luther College on Saturday.
Farrar got his day started very quickly just one minute and 10 seconds into the game when
Brandon Stemwedel (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) fed him for a goal.
Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) made it 2-0 after converting a penalty kick 10 minutes into the game. Farrar followed up with his second and third goals less than two minutes apart in the 20th and 21st minute to make the margin 4-0.
Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS) had an assist on the first goal. For Farrar it is his first collegiate hat trick.
CSS would get two more goals before the end of the first half as
Ben Wallace (Glasgow, Scotland/Shawlands Academy) converted on another penalty kick and
Rob Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scored his first goal of the game to make it 6-0 at the half.
In the 59th minute, Farrar added his fourth and final goal of the game thanks to another assist by Jenkins. The four goals are tied for the second-most in program history with the record being five, held by Dan Seeler.
Since Farrar was done, it was now
Rob Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS)'s turn to take over and he would by scoring the final two goals of the game for his first collegiate hat trick. Wallace had the assist on the first goal and Watt assisted the second.
Sam Reed (Eastbourne, England/Causeway School) made four saves to earn his 52nd career victory and 35th career shutout. Ben Zietlow had six saves and Taylor Traeder had three saves in the loss for the Knights. CSS has outscored the Knights 19-1 in two games this season. Martin Luther falls to 4-13 overall and 2-9 in the conference.
The Saints (13-3-1, 9-0-1 UMAC) will finish up the regular season next weekend at home when they face both Crown College on Friday and Northwestern College on Saturday. The Crown game on Friday will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday's Northwestern game has been changed to a 3 p.m. start at Saints Field.
