Men’s Hockey Starts the Weekend Off with a Win

Mracoux leads Saints with two-goal night

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team scored the final four goals in defeating the University of Wisconsin-Stout 4-1 Friday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.

Logan Maly scored the first goal of the night half way through the first period for the Blue Devils on the power-play.

Sophomore #Paul Marcoux# tied the game up for the Saints with six minutes remaining in the period for his fourth goal for the season. The goal was assisted by senior #Riley Riddell# and sophomore #Tyler Miller#.

Miller then gained the lead for CSS with an unassisted goal two minutes and three seconds later. #Chad Golanowski# made it 3-1 exactly two minutes after that goal to close the first period with the Saints up 3-1 over the Blue Devils. #Alex Valenti# and #Carter Davis# assisted the tally.

After a scoreless second period, Paul Marcoux (Brandon, Manitoba /Vincent Massey Collegiate (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) scored his second goal of the night with 16 seconds left in the game by way of the empty net to make the final score 4-1. It was Marcoux's first multi-goal game of his career. Riddell and #Neil Sauter# had the assists

CSS Goaltender junior #Brennan Poderzay# finished the night with his third win on the season bringing his record to 3-3-0, making 23 saves. Tom Lescovich took the loss for Stout with 36 saves.

The Saints improved their record to 9-10-1 (4-9-0 NCHA), while the Blue Devils fell to 11-9-0 (6-7-0 NCHA).

The Saints hope to gain another NCHA win tomorrow night at 7:05 pm at the Mars Lakeview Arena against the University Wisconsin-River Falls. The game can be seen live online, courtesy of the iFan Sports Network, at csssaints.com.
