SUPERIOR, Wis. – The fourth-ranked St. Scholastica hockey team never trailed tonight as it defeated the University of Wisconsin-Superior for a third time this season 4-1 at Wessman Arena.
The Saints improve to 17-3-4 overall and to 11-2-4 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). CSS is 10-1-2 in its last 13 games. The Yellowjackets fall to 9-11-4 overall and to 3-11-3 in the league. There is a good possibility that the Saints and Yellowjackets could meet up again in the first round of the NCHA Peter's Cup Playoffs.
In a relatively quiet first period that didn't see many stoppages, the Saints got on the board with less than five minutes left in the period when #Stephane Phaneuf# (

Later in the period, the Yellowjackets capitalized on the first penalty of the game when Logan Isley scored with 2:31 on the clock to make the score 2-1 CSS. Prior to that goal, the Saints had killed off the last 27 power-plays.
In the third period, the Saints took advantage of a Superior turnover and
Jordan Chong (North Vancouver, British Columbia/Dryden (SIJHL)) poked the puck in the net with 2:09 left in the third period to give the Saints some breathing room and a 3-1 lead.
