The St. Scholastica women's hockey team fell to the Lake Forest College Foresters by a 3-0 final in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) match-up at Mars Lakeview Arena on Friday evening.

The Saints fall to 1-3-0 (0-2-0 NCHA) on the season with the loss while the Foresters improve to 5-0-0 in their first conference match-up of the season. The game can now be seen on Saints on Demand.

The Saints and Foresters held each other scoreless through nearly the entire first period, but Rosy Fujimoto got Lake Forest on the board with her third goal of the season just before the 19-minute mark with an assist from Jenn Caldwell.

The second period saw the Foresters pepper the Saints with 16 shots, but junior goaltender #Rachel Borchardt# kept them off the board throughout the middle frame.

The Foresters came back with 12 shots in the third, scoring their second goal just five minutes into the period as Jessica Dare netted her third of the season on the powerplay. From there, the Saints went on the offensive, taking a game-high eight shots in the third period.

With the Saints trying to move the puck up ice, the Foresters netted their third and final goal with less than three minutes remaining in the game when Maeve Connolly picked up a rebound on a shot by Fujimoto for her first of the year.

#Michelle Rebeck# and #Briana Stephens# led the Saints offense with three shots each. CSS finished with 19 shots, taking five, six, and eight shots in the three periods, respectively.

The Foresters finished with 33 shots. Borchardt had 30 saves in taking the loss, while her counterpart, Alyssa Wintermute, made 19 saves to preserve the shutout.

The Saints return to the ice tomorrow afternoon, taking on the Foresters in the second game of the series. The puck drops at 2 p.m. The game will not be broadcast live but can be seen on Saints on Demand immediately following its conclusion.
