DUBUQUE, Iowa – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team held Loras scoreless in the second half but could not overcome three first-half goals, falling 3–0 Saturday at the Rock Bowl.
The loss snapped the Saints' three-game winning streak and moved St. Scholastica to 3–2 on the season.
Loras struck twice in a one-minute span early in the match. Emily Bowe opened the scoring at 7:13 with assists from Bella Scesniak and Emerson Gasmann. Gracie Gasmann doubled the lead at 8:13, with Emerson Gasmann providing her second assist.
The Saints kept the deficit at two until the closing minutes of the half, when Scesniak scored off an assist from Hannah Lavender at 43:50 to give the Duhawks a 3–0 halftime advantage.
Addie Aleshire (Fridley, MN/Fridley HS) entered in goal after halftime and recorded six saves over the final 45 minutes to keep Loras off the scoreboard in the second half. Chloe Patrick (Brainerd, MN/Brainerd High School) started and made three saves in the opening half, giving the Saints nine saves for the match.
Anna Manion (Superior, WI/Superior HS) registered St. Scholastica's lone shot in the 89th minute, putting an attempt on frame that was stopped by Loras goalkeeper Hannah Fedinec.
The Duhawks finished with a 28–1 advantage in shots, including a 12–1 edge in shots on goal, and earned nine corner kicks.
St. Scholastica returns home Wednesday, Sept. 16, to open MIAC play against Carleton College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Kenny Harkins Field.
