NORTHFIELD, Minn. --
Trent Beseth (Stanchfield, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) added to his illustrious career with a runner-up result in the discus toss on Friday afternoon. Beseth scored eight points for the Saints with a throw of 52.48m.
Anthony Mahowald (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) stepped onto the long jump runway with the podium in mind. This put Mahowald into fifth position heading into finals in what proved to be a back and forth final for the point scorers. Having time for a quick reset before the final attempts, Mahowald capitalized on the opportunity and jolted up the leaderboard with a booming leap of 6.86m. This mark moved Mahowald all the way up to third place to secure a bronze medal podium finish. Mahowald holds the second farthest long jump mark in school history.
Matthew Erickson (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) placed 10th in the long jump with a bound of 6.38m.Â
The 4x800m relay team of Jeffrey Kayfes (Buhl, Minn./Mountain Iron-Buhl HS), Ben Westholm (Duluth, MN/Duluth East High School), Ashton Niemi (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS), and Connor Feldt placed seventh overall with a time of 8:12.17 to score two points for the team.
