MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The St. Scholastica women's basketball team dropped a road MIAC matchup at Concordia College (MN) on Saturday, falling 68–41.
The Saints stayed within reach early, trailing 15–11 after the first quarter, but the Cobbers outscored CSS 22–8 in the second period to create separation the Saints couldn't recover from.
Ava Haus (St. Michael, MN/St. Michael-Albertville High School) led St. Scholastica with 19 points, knocking down three 3-pointers and adding five rebounds.
Kloey Lind (Pine City, MN/Pine City HS) finished with nine points and six rebounds, while
Evie Schmitz (Burnsville, MN/St. Louis Park) chipped in five points.
The Saints battled on the glass, collecting 12 offensive rebounds, but shot 24 percent from the field compared to Concordia's 45 percent. The Cobbers also capitalized at the free-throw line, going 12-for-14, while CSS finished 6-for-9. St. Scholastica limited turnovers in the second half and held Concordia to 12 fourth-quarter points, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
St. Scholastica falls to 8-3 overall, and 3-1 in MIAC play. Up next, the Saints are back on the road for another MIAC game, against Hamline on Wednesday, January 7. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
