DULUTH, Minn. - The St. Scholastica women's soccer team earned their first win of the season in convincing fashion on Wednesday afternoon, blanking Bethany Lutheran 4-0 at Kenny Harkins Field.
The Saints controlled the match from the start, firing 27 shots with 14 on goal while holding the Vikings to just five shots on frame.
Mariah Hernesman (Duluth, MN/Duluth Marshall HS) put St. Scholastica ahead in the 32nd minute, finishing off a cross from
Lily Rippie (Inver Grove Heights, MN/Rosemount HS) to give the Saints a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Rippie then doubled the advantage in the 74th minute with her first goal of the year, assisted by
Zara McBroom (Rochester, MN/John Marshall HS). Just six minutes later,
Anna Manion (Superior, WI/Superior HS) made it 3-0 off a well-worked play assisted by
Emily Carroll (Chisagio Lakes, MN/Chisagio Lakes HS) and
Julia Lewis (Maple Grove, MN/Maple Grove HS). Lewis then capped the scoring in the 89th minute, converting from Manion to seal the 4-0 victory.

Rylee Senich (Cloquet, MN/Cloquet HS) turned away five Bethany Lutheran attempts to earn the clean sheet.
The win moves St. Scholastica to 1-3-1 on the year. The Saints return to action this Friday when they travel to Saint Bonifacius, Minnesota to take on Crown College. That game is slated to start at 7pm.
