Eau Claire, Wis. – The Saint Scholastica men's tennis team headed over the Wisconsin border to Eau Claire to compete against the Blugolds. The contest resulted in the Blugolds taking the win over the Saints, 4-3.

Doubles
Dane Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Jack Onkka (Thief River Falls, Minn./Thief River Falls HS), along with Reese Patten and Alex Daigneault (Agua Dulce, Calif./Hart HS), both succeeded in clinching wins in their respective doubles matches. D. Patten and Onkka rounded their match out with a score of 6-3, with R. Patten and Daigneault ending with a score of 6-2.
Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) and Eamon Gerrard-Stace (Brisbane, Au./St Joseph's Nudgee College) fought valiantly in the No. 1 doubles match, but fell shy of the win after scoring 1-6.
Singles
Gerrard-Stace and R. Patten were the only two Saints to secure wins in singles. Gerrard-Stacce, competing at No. 3 singles, bested his Blugold opponent with scores of 6(0)-7(7), 6-4, and 1(10)-0(7). R. Patten, at No. 5 singles, ended his match in just two sets, after scoring 6-3 and 6-2.
Harper Dircks (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS), at No. 4 singles, was the next closest to victory, forcing his opponent into a third set. Unfortunately, after three, he was unable to achieve the win, scoring 1-6, 6-4, and 0(8)-1(10).
Abeleda and D. Patten, who competed at No. 1 & 2 singles respectively, were both trumped in two sets. Abeleda was dropped by the Blugold after scoring 2-6 and 6(7)-7(10)
Timon Herrmann (Karlsruhe, Germany/) was featured in the No. 6 singles match. Like Abeleda and D. Patten, Herrmann was dropped after just two sets, scoring 1-6 in both.
What's Next
The Saints (8-8, 4-4 MIAC) will host the Gusties (15-11, 7-0 MIAC) of Gustavus Adolphus College in their final match of the season in Duluth on Saturday, April 26. Match time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
