4/12/2025 10:16:00 PM

The Saints men's track and field program split up over the weekend to chase competition across the state. The sprinters, jumpers, and distance crew headed to Bethel University to face off against a slew of MIAC competitors, as well as Division II and Division I participants. The throwers headed a bit farther south to mix it up in predominantly Division II fields at the Minnesota State Open.

Leading the throwers in Mankato, Joshua Monreal (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) had a personal best toss in the discus to place fourth in the meet. Monreal's mark of 45.86m also bumped him up to fourth place on the Saint's all-time list.

Matthew Erickson (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) got the action going in Arden Hills with a fifth place finish in the long jump. Erickson's best leap of the day went 6.57m.

Noah Kubicek (Owatona, Minn./Owatonna HS) flashed his speed with a personal best time in the 200m dash. His finishing time of 22.23 seconds improves his result as the second fastest in the event in school history. Kubicek also ran the 400m in 49.64 to finish 14th in the meet.

Calvin Boone (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Highland Park HS) hopped into 800m to test his speed against the class of the MIAC. He placed tenth overall in a time of 1:56.90.

Sean Alfaro Diedrich (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) opened up his outdoor campaign with an 11.28 second 100m dash to place 16th overall. Alfaro Diedrich returned with a 22.76 second 200m dash to place 15th.

Working with a short week on the horizon, the Saints will get back in action next Thursday at University of St. Thomas before a brief reset over Easter Break. The team continues to prepare for the MIAC Championships at Macalester College on May 9th-10th.
