Women's Tennis Claims Second 7-0 Sweep Against UNW Eagles

Box Score Duluth, Minn. – The Saint Scholastica Women's tennis team traveled to Owatonna, Minn. to go compete against the Eagles of the University Of North Western. Today's match concluded with the Saints securing another 7-0 sweep.
How it Happened
Doubles
The first match the Saints played in today's long contest featured Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and Paula Sendele (Icking, ,DE). After a hard-fought effort, the Saints first duo recorded the first win of the day, scoring 6-0.
Katia Bartels (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Sophia Cosgrove (Bli Bli, , AU) were up next for the Saints. Competing early in the day gave them an opportunity to give the Saints a good foundation, and they did that with a dominant 6-1 victory in their doubles match. 
Finally, Annika Lundell (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and Chloe Hasbargen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) rounded out the Saints' doubles. They too took advantage of the situation they had before them, winning with a score of 7-6 and giving the Saints the team lead. 
Singles
Maier started things off for the Saints' singles matches. Maier nearly shut out her singles opponent, winning with scores of 6-0, and 6-1.
Bartels was up again for the Saints. She was successful very quickly, winning her match in two sets, scoring 6-2, and 6-0
Benitez was next up for the Saints, and it only took her two sets to secure the win for the Saints, recording scores of 6-3, and 6-3.
Cosgrove was the fourth athlete up for the Saints in singles matches. Cosgrove was able to dominate her competition is two matches, scoring 6-0 in the first and 6-3 in the second. 
Sendele appeared for the second time today, this time in the singles competition. She secured her second victory after scoring 6-4, and 6-1.
Maria Sosa (Mazatenango, Guatemala/) made her first appearance in the singles competition, and did not disappoint. She too won in two sets, scoring 6-2, 6-0.
What's Next
The Saints (2-1 0-0 MAIC) will compete against the Oles (3-0, 1-0 MIAC) of Saint Olaf College. The Match location is to be determined, but it will be held on Sunday, March 2 at 12:30 p.m.
