Men's Basketball Falls in Home Opener Against Carleton

DULUTH, Minn. -- St. Scholastica battled throughout but couldn't overcome a strong second half from Carleton, falling 73–59 on Saturday afternoon at Reif Gymnasium. The Saints showed plenty of fight and flashes of offensive rhythm, particularly from beyond the arc, finishing with 11 made three-pointers.

Davion Butler (South Phoenix, AZ/) led the way with a team-high 18 points, knocking down three triples and sparking multiple scoring bursts. Koy Nelson (Port Wing, WI/South Shore HS) added 12 points on efficient shooting, while Jayden Brown (Grantsburg, WI/Grantsburg HS) chipped in 10. The Saints got valuable contributions off the bench as well, highlighted by 19 bench points and a key stretch late in the first half that helped close the gap.

Carleton held a narrow 30–27 lead at halftime before using a hot start to the second half to build separation. Despite that surge, St. Scholastica continued to compete, generating 13 points off turnovers and tallying seven steals defensively.

Up next, the Saints host bridge-rival UW-Superior on Wednesday, December 10. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
