WHEATON, Ill. -- St. Scholastica opened play at the Lee Pfund Classic on Friday night, coming up short in an 85–64 road loss to host Wheaton (IL). After a tough first half, the Saints put together a stronger second half performance with 40 points and encouraging individual performance.
Freshman guard Davion Butler (South Phoenix, AZ/) led the Saints with 17 points, knocking down two threes and providing steady offense throughout the night. Aaron Keykal (Princeton, MN/Princeton HS) added 10 points and 8 rebounds, giving St. Scholastica a reliable interior presence on both ends. The Saints' bench also contributed 24 points, highlighted by Drelyn Jones (Leyden, IL/Leyden HS) and Nebiyu Teklemariam (Alameda, CA/St. Joseph Notre Dame HS), who each added 8 points.
While Wheaton's perimeter shooting proved difficult to overcome, the Saints' settled in with a competitive second-half push.
St. Scholastica (3–1) continues the Lee Pfund Classic on Saturday at 5 p.m., taking on Rose-Hulman at King Arena.
