DULUTH, Minn. — The Saint Scholastica Men's Hockey Team opened their 2025-26 season against the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Raiders at Mars Lakeview Arena. Despite striking first, the Saints fell 4-2 in game one of this Halloweekend series.
The Saints out shot the Raiders 10-8 in the opening period and successfully killed off two Raider power plays to keep the game scoreless heading into the second period.
Saints forward Braden Panzer (Grand Forks, ND/Grand Forks Central HS) opened the scoring at the 1:28 mark of the second period with an assist from Evan Pahos (Parker, CO/). MSOE's Ethan Mann found the back of the net to tie the game at the 13:03 mark. Shortly after, Jackson Yee added another goal for the Raiders, giving MSOE the lead at 16:04.
Trailing by one entering the third period, MSOE's Cole Beilke converted in the final seconds of a Raider power play for the goal at 14:01, bringing the score to 3-1. With time winding down, Jared Scott (Kenosha, WI/Christian Life School) tallied his first goal as a Saint at 19:26 with assists from Wyatt Wurst (Edina, MN/Edina HS) and Daniel Kroon (Calgary, Canada/). However, the Raiders sealed the win with an empty-net goal from Bernard with just 26 seconds on the clock, bringing the score to 4-2.
Hunter Hanson (Blaine, MN/Blaine HS) led the Saints with six total shots, while goaltender Eino Rissanen (Sonvillier, Switzerland/Lycée Blaise-Cendrars) had 24 saves, finishing with a .857 save percentage.
The Saints look to even the series as they face MSOE tomorrow afternoon (11/1) at Mars Lakeview Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m.
