Women’s Soccer Falls to St. Catherine on the Road in MIAC Matchup

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The College of St. Scholastica was held off the scoresheet in a 3-0 road loss to Augsburg University on Tuesday afternoon in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup.

First Half:
St. Catherine's struck early with Ashley Fugitt's goal at 8 minutes, followed by Bella Meier's second goal at 21 minutes, giving SCU a 2-0 lead by halftime. St. Scholastica's freshman keeper Rylee Senich (Cloquet, MN/Cloquet HS) made several key saves to keep the scoreline manageable, while the Saints' defense held firm against repeated CSS attacks.

Second Half:
SCU continued to pressure, holding St. Scholastica to few quality chances. Katie McGrath added an insurance goal late in the 88th minute, assisted by Lillia Gray, sealing the win. St. Catherine's goalie Brianna Valdez made several critical saves, including shots from senior forward Tenley Voth (Farmington, MN/Farmington HS) and sophomore midfielder Bailey Coole (Duluth, MN/Duluth East HS).

Both teams made multiple substitutions in the second half, but St. Catherine's controlled possession and momentum for much of the period.

With the loss, the Saints move to 4-8-3 overall and remain 2-3-2 in league action. St. Scholastica is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 for a MIAC contest at home against Augsburg University. The game is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
