Duluth, MN. - The St. Scholastica Women's Soccer team took on the St. Olaf College today at Kenny Harkins Field. The Ole's controlled most of the game and defeated the Saints 4-0.
How it Happened
1st Half
The Lions came out flying in the opening minutes of play, they took two shots in the first four minutes, missing both wide.
St. Olaf controlled most of the half, not allowing the Saints to take a shot. A nail-biter shot came from the Lions at 8:44 as it banked off the crossbar and slid behind goalkeeper Gracie Meagher (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS), she was able to recover the ball.
The Saints' defense stood on their heads while the Lions pounded the ball at the net any chance they could get, they tallied multiple blocks.
At 26:05, the Lions found the back of the net on a lucky scramble. St. Olaf led 1-0.
The Saints did not have much luck in the offensive end, they spent most of their time defending. As the clock hit the 45-minute mark, St. Olaf held the lead 1-0 going into halftime.
2nd Half
The Saints came out more dominant in the second half, finding their way into the offensive end early on. But it would not last long as the Lions scored their second of the game at 48:25. Oles led 2-0.
Both teams struggled to keep possession. Despite the Oles making multiple rushes.
At 67:14, the Ole's scored once again, several saves were made by Meagher, along with blocks from the Saints defense in the moments before the goal. Lions led 3-0.
The Saints battled hard to hold off the Lions, but found themselves allowing the Lions to score a fourth goal at 75:46. St. Olaf led 4-0.
At 77:55, Ashley Herold (Lakeville, Minn./Rosemount HS) took a big shot on the net in hope of getting one on the board but was denied by St. Olaf's goalkeeper.
The clock continued to click down and the Saints fell 4-0.

The Saints will take on a series of road games in the next two weeks but will return to Kenny Harkins Field on Saturday, October 12 for a 1 p.m. match against Macalester College.
