How it Happened

1st Half

Right off the hop, the Wildcats came to play, as they raced down the field and tallied a shot on net only 11 seconds into the game.

It wouldn't be long until the Wildcats could capitalize on their offensive dominance. They scored their first of the game at 8:16. And despite the Saints' defense displaying their best blocks, the 'Cats tallied another goal at 12:53.

The Wildcats controlled the game until a stunting shot from Gabrielle Eckman (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) knocked the Wildcats back to their defensive plays. The St. Kate's goalkeeper denied the shot.

The energy on the field was undeniable, as the Saints held off the Wildcats from scoring again for the remainder of the half. The Saints kicked it into gear and only allowed one more shot on the net following the Wildcat's second goal.

St. Kate's led 2-0 going into the second half.

2nd Half

The second half of play started nearly identical to the first, the Wildcats were quick to jump on opportunities and the Saints took some time to adjust.

At 46:38, the Wildcats scored their third goal of the game after a lucky turnover at midfield.

Kaitlyn Sautter (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) then made a run for the offensive end, as she attempted to get the Saints on the board, but her shot grazed over the crossbar.

Despite the Saints being down by three, they continued to pressure the Wildcats, and the passionate play from Ashley Herold (Lakeville, Minn./Rosemount HS) had her called on a yellow card.

The Wildcats were able to take this opportunity to score their fourth goal at 61:15.

CSS was unable to score, but they also held the Wildcats off from adding any more to their board. Goalkeeper Gracie Meagher (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) made two massive saves in the 72nd minute, she was seen diving from left to right.

15 minutes remained in the match and the Saints attempted shots from all over the field. But the Wildcat goalkeeper stood on her head to get the shutout.

St. Kate's took the win 4-0 after 90 minutes of play.
