DULUTH, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica men's tennis team earned a conference victory over Macalester College on Sunday afternoon at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center. The 6-3 vicotry over the Scots breaks a five-game losing series streak, the last time St. Scholastica beat Macalester College was back in 2017.
Doubles
The No. 1 pairing of
Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) and Eamon-Gerrard Stace got the 8-5 win over the Scots.
The No. 2 and No. 3 Saints doubles teams both saw final scores of 8-6 go in their favor. Getting the wins was
Harper Dircks (Hopkins, Minn./) and
Dane Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and teammates
Alex Daigneault (Agua Dulce, Calif./Hart HS) and
Jack Onkka (Thief River Falls, Minn./).
Singles
The Scots would be able to grab three of the six matches, earning wins at the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 spots.
Abeleda would take care of his opponent 6-4, 6-4.
Both Patten brothers would see wins today, Dane the freshman would earn a 7-5, 6-0 victory, while senior
Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) beat his opponent in No. 6 singles with scores of 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.
