VIRGINIA, Minn. - The College of St. Scholastica men's tennis team was able to split the weekend with a 6-3 win over Concordia College after falling to Wisconsin-Superior on Friday evening. The Saints played at the Virginia Pickleball and Tennis Club this Saturday evening.
Doubles
The mates ofÂ
Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) and
Eamon Gerrard-Stace (Brisbane, Au./) would take care of business in No. 1 doubles, with a 8-2 win.
Dane Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) andÂ
Julius Tabrizi (Frankfurt, Germany/Bischof-Neumann) had a dominating 8-0 performance.
The No. 3 pairing ofÂ
Alex Daigneault (Agua Dulce, Calif./Hart HS) and
Jack Onkka (Thief River Falls, Minn./) won their match 8-5.
Singles
Abeleda would fall 7-5, 6-3 in his match and Gerrard-Stace would lose 6-2, 6-0.
Tabrizi earned the win at the No. 3 spot, winning 10-5 in the third set.
First-year Patten would secure another win this weekend, with scores of 6-2, 6-3.
At the five spot,
Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) would battle with his opponent, but fall 11-9 in the final set.
Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) would play in the last spot, where he saw a 7-5, 6-3 victory over his foe.
