VIRGINIA, Minn. - The College of St. Scholastica men's tennis team opened up their weekend in Virginia to play conference opponent St. Olaf College on Saturday afternoon. The Saints would be able to claim two doubles matches and four singles matches to earn the 6-3 victory over the Oles.
Singles
Atop of the lineup,
Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) won his first set 6-2, fell 2-6 in the second, but was able to claim the third set 10-7.
The Oles would claim the No. 2 and No. 6 singles matches against
Eamon Gerrard-Stace (Brisbane, Au./) and
Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS).
In the third spot,
Julius Tabrizi (Frankfurt, Germany/Bischof-Neumann) won his match 6-3, 7-5.
Dane Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) would win 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot.
Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) would pick up the 6-3, 6-3 in No. 5 singles play.
Doubles
The Australian duo of Abeleda and Gerrad-Stace would see an 8-1 loss in No. 1 doubles.
Tabrizi and D. Patten would defeat their opponents, 8-5.
The final pairing of
Alex Daigneault (Agua Dulce, Calif./Hart HS) and
Jack Onkka (Thief River Falls, Minn./) would battle with the Oles winning 8-7, they would earn the extra point by winning 7-4 in the tiebreaker.
