DULUTH, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica men's hockey team opened game one of a back-to-back against Augsburg at home with a 6-0 defeat. The Saints honored their nine seniors pregame.
How It Happened
Augsburg dominated most of the game tonight and showed it by scoring six unanswered goals against the Saints.
Three of those goals came in the first period, the first coming a minute into the game and then the second and third towards the end.
The score remained 3-0 for the majority of the period but the Auggies scored two more to increase their lead to 5-0 going into the 3rd period. The Saints recorded the most shots in this period with 11.
Augsburg scored one more in the third being the last goal of the game to reach a final score of 6-0 Auggies.
St. Scholastica had some chances and the Saints matched Augsburgs shot total with 24 each but was not able to find the back of the net.
Goaltending
Both goalies faced the same amount of shots but Samuel Vyletelka of Augsburg came away with a win and a shutout. Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS) would regristerd the loss.
