How it Happened
1st Quarter
Tipping it off, the Green Knights get the edge with the first possession of the game. Another great shot from Johnson added two points to the board giving a 0-5 lead.

Changing directions the Green Knights would tie it up scoring five points to make the game tied. Answering back with a jumper shot was made by Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) to break the tie.

A foul drawn on Gabby Voight created the first free throw of the game, missing the first, and making the second. Increasing the score 8-5.

Voigt sinks a three-pointer from the left side of the court with an assist from Johnson. Their powerful playmaking abilities are helping the Saints start strong.

The quarter ended in a 15-9 lead for the Saints.

2nd Quarter
The first point of the 2nd quarter comes off a layup from Voigt off a turnover from the Knights. Lots of back-and-forth play from both teams created a much closer game between the two.

A drought of points caught both teams as they maintained a 20-19 score for multiple minutes until the Green Knights took the balls down making a Three-pointer shot, taking the lead for the first time tonight as the score switched in the Green Knight's favor, 20-21.
Ava Haus (St. Michael/St. Michael-Albertville High School) breaks the Green Knights' lead with a three-pointer, shifting the score in favor of the Saints. Following Haus, another three-pointer is made by Lexi Imdieke (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) as these are both their first points of the night.
Haus got two free throw attempts with 11 seconds remaining, missing the first shot, and making the second. This ended the period with the Saints having a three-point advantage and a score of 28-25.
3rd Quarter
The Green Knights got the first point of the quarter but not long after Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) plunged a three-pointer in the basket making it 31-27.

Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) got her first points of the game from an assist from Voigt, spinning around and drilling more points.
The game had become an intense back-and-forth contest, with each team grabbing the lead only to lose it moments later, making every possession crucial to stay focused and in control.
A foul on the Green Knights created a one-shot free throw for Daysia Simmons (Albertville, MN/St. Michael HS). She made it and gave CSS another point.
The 3rd Quarter ended with the Saints trailing by three points, giving the Green Knights the lead 44-47.

4th Quarter
Both teams pushed the intensity on every play knowing in this close match-up that whoever gave it their all would come out on top.

Capitalizing on the opportunities, the Saints came back from a deficit with Imdieke making a three-pointer to keep the Saints in the game making the score 53-53.

With a turnover from the Green Knights in their offensive zone, the Saints took the ball down the court and gained the lead as Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) hooked the ball into the net.

The Green Knights proceeded to make two buckets in a row and get a third off of a turnover from a bad pass on the Saints, this extended their lead by six points and made the score 59-65.

Despite the Saint's offensive efforts in the last minute of the game, tonight's contest ended in a 62-69 loss in their first game of the 2024-2025 season.
