DECORAH, Iowa — The St. Scholastica women's soccer team fell this afternoon in a matchup against Luther College. Luther took an early lead, and scored three goals before the Saints cracked the scoreboard. The lead was too much for the Saints, as Luther walked away with a 4-1 victory over CSS today.
How it Happened
Luther broke the scoreless tie early in the match, scoring a goal in the 8th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Later in the opening half, the Norse found the back of the net in the 31st minute, as CSS trailed 2-0 heading into halftime.
Six minutes into the second half, Luther scored another goal, extending its lead to 3-0.
Just minutes later, in the 56th minute, the Saints caught a break. Madelyn Carroll (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) notched a goal, on an assist from Avery Sutton (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS (Saint Mary's)), to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Although the Saints had some opportunities to try to make a late comeback, a late Luther goal in the 77th minute, sealed the game as Luther took today's match by a score of 4-1.

The Saints (0-7-1, 0-1-1) will be back in action next Wednesday, where they will host St. Kate's at Kenny Harkins Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
