DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team hosted its MIAC opener this afternoon, taking on the Wildcats from St. Catherine's University. The Wildcats were able to score a goal in each half, leading to a 2-0 victory over CSS this afternoon.
How it Happened
After the Saints' defense shined early in the matchup, the Wildcats were able to find the back of the net, on a rebound off of a Gracie Meagher (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) save, to take a 1-0 lead over CSS.
After leading 1-0 heading into halftime, the Wildcats extended its lead over the Saints, near the end of the 49th minute, as St. Catherine's now led 2-0.
The Saints had an attempt to cut into the deficit, when a shot from Tenley Voth (Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) was saved as the score remained at 2-0.
The Wildcats were able to milk the rest of the clock in this one, as St. Catherine's exited today with a 2-0 victory over the Saints.
