LAKE NONA, Fla. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team played the second contest of their spring break schedule in the Orlando area. Although today was a different match than yesterday, the results ended the same with the Saints only being able to claim one point.
The Tigers of Occidental College came away with an 8-1 win over the Saints Sunday morning.
Doubles
The No. 1 pairing of Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and Mishell Benitez (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Tecnico Particular a Distancia José Martí) claimed the solo point as they earned an 8-6 victory over their opponents.
Anna Ritchie (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) and Taylor Vyskocil (Ashland, Wis.) wouldn't go down without a fight as they were narrowly defeated 8-6.
Singles
The Tigers would acquire all of the singles matches.
At the No. 4 singles spot, first-year Katia Bartles battled with her opponent in three sets, the first ending in a tiebreaker, Emma Silber would take it 10-8. Bartles would be able to earn a 6-3 advantage in the second set, but Silber would take the 9-7 in the superbreaker, earning a singles point for the Tigers.
Maya Nibbe (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) would lose to her opponent in the No. 5 spot, 6-4, 6-3, and Elena Bartels (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View HS) would grab the first set 7-5 in the No 6. position, but fall in the next two sets 6-4, 10-3.

The Saints (3-7, 1-4 MIAC) will have a day off to rest and relax in the warm weather. They will then travel on Tuesday with the men's team to face off against Springfield College men's and women's tennis teams, matches will start at noon (EST).
