MELBOURNE, Fla. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team played their first match of five in Florida. They started up the spring break games with a match versus Eastern Florida State College.
The Titans would secure the 8-1 victory, but junior Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) would grab her sixth singles victory of the year.
Doubles
The foes acquired all 3 of the available doubles points, the pairing of Anna Ritchie (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) and Taylor Vyskocil (Ashland, Wis.) would be the only doubles team to win a set in their matches, but were defeated 8-2.
Singles
Maier came away with the lone win atop the lineup for the Saints as she won the match 6-3, 6-3 over sophomore spaniard Simona Karlsson Hantzis.
In the No. 6 spot, Eva Kangas (Grand Rapids, Minn./Minnesota Virtual Academy – Grand Rapids HS) battled her opponent as she won an overall four sets, but came up just short, falling 6-3, 6-1.
