DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team extended its winning streak to nine games tonight with a victory over Northland College. The Saints were led with six different players recording goals tonight, and behind a four-goal second period, CSS was able to come away with a commanding 8-1 victory over the LumberJacks. 

From the Rink
Before the LumberJacks could get a shot on goal against the Saints, Jacob Seitz (Mountain Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) scored his first goal of the night, coming on an assist from Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS), to give CSS an early 1-0 lead. 

Later in the period, Northland was able to tie the game at 1-1 with a powerplay goal with just four minutes left in the opening period. 

In the second period, Seitz was able to score just 55 seconds in, as the Saints reclaimed its lead with assists coming from Carsen Richels (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS) and Arkhip Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya), leading 2-1. 

Just 30 seconds later, A. Ledenkov scored a goal of his own, with assists coming from Filimon Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya) and Alec Severson (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS), as the Saints extended its lead to 3-1. 

After allowing a goal late in the first period, Eino Rissanen (Sonvillier, Switzerland/Lycée Blaise-Cendrars) was able to stop all 10 shots he faced in the second period, helping CSS maintain its advantage over the LumberJacks. 

In the closing minutes of the second period, Hunter Hanson (Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) took his turn finding the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season. Hanson's goal was assisted by Brodie Girod (Clavet, Saskatchewan/Clavet HS), giving the Saints a 4-1 advantage. 

A little over a minute later, the Saints scored its fourth goal of the period, this time coming from A. Ledenkov for his sixth goal of the year. Assists went to F. Ledenkov and Richels, as the Saints took a 5-1 lead into the final period. 

Once again, the Saints grabbed an early goal, with Braeden Holcomb (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS) delivering his first goal of the season, assisted by Seitz and Severson, as CSS scored its fifth unanswered goal. 

A few minutes later, Girod scored the Saints' seventh goal of the night, with assists going to Nick Lanigan (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Tristan Shewchuk (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada/St. Joseph HS). The goal was Girod's fifth of the year and extended the lead to 7-1. 

Bryce Johnson (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS) would score the final goal of the Saints' dominant scoring night, coming on the powerplay with assists being by Shewchuk and Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS). Johnson was able to record his first goal of the season with his goal. 

Led by Rissanen, the Saints were able to keep the LumberJacks off the board for the remainder of the period, as the Saints earned its ninth win in a row with an 8-1 win over Northland.

The Saints (9-0-0, 4-0-0) will be back in action on December 29th, where they will take part in the Superior Showdown. They will play the University of Dubuque, puck drop is yet to be announced.
