DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team hit the road this evening, traveling to St. Peter to take on the Gusties from Gustavus. The Saints scored the lone two goals in the first period before turning over the spotlight to the defense, who were able to silence the Gusties offense with a 2-0 victory tonight.

From the Rink
In the early moments of period one, the Gusties came out firing, in its way was Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS), who was able to turn away five early shots from Gustavus.

St. Scholastica broke the scoreless tie a few minutes past the midway point in the period, as Jacob Seitz (Mountain Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) netted his second goal of the season, assisted by Arkhip Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya) and Filimon Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya).

Not long after Bostedt denied more Gustie scoring attempts, Will Fisher (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) broke through with 30 seconds left to play in the period, as both Ledenkov brothers assisted on Fisher's goal, to take a 2-0 lead into the second period.

The Saints defense stepped up in a big way in the second period, as not only did Bostedt save all five shots that came his way, but CSS was able to shut down a Gusties powerplay, keeping the score right at 2-0 after two periods.

St. Scholastica got tagged with an early penalty in the third period, but just like the last powerplay Gustavus had, the Saints shut it down, as the score remained 2-0.

In the closing minutes of period three and the game, after the Gusties pulled its goalie in an attempt to net a goal, St. Scholastica got handed another penalty. With a six-on-four opportunity, Bostedt recovered the last save of the night, as the Saints continued its hot streak with a 2-0 shutout over Gustavus in tonight's game.
