MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team took on the Auggies from Augsburg this evening making the trip from Duluth to Minneapolis. The Saints took a nine-point lead into halftime, and after a pursuit of the lead from the Auggies, the Saints were able to hold on to capture a 64-58 victory.

How it Happened
The Saints wasted no time getting points on the board, as a layup by Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and a three-pointer from Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS), gave the Saints an early 5-2 lead.

Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) scored her first points minutes later on a three-pointer of her own, but the Auggies then went on an 11-0 run to take an eight-point lead over CSS.

CSS would be able to take back the lead after going on a 9-0 run to end the first quarter, highlighted by Johnson's second three-pointer of the game, and Lexi Imdieke (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) scored her first points on back-to-back jumpers to end the quarter, giving CSS a 17-16 lead.

Carlson and Imdieke opened the second quarter for the Saints, with the duo each hitting a three-pointer, giving CSS a 23-17 lead.

Jada Bierschbach (Richmond, Minn./Rocori HS) got her night started in the following minutes of the second quarter, scoring six points on the Saints' next three possessions, extending its lead to 29-21.

Johnson was able to close out the half with a layup and yet another three-pointer, giving CSS a nine-point lead heading into the second half.

Just as she did in the opening quarter, Lind scored the first points for CSS in the second half on a layup, which would be followed by Katie Vaske (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS (Hamline University)) and Gabby Voigt (St. Michael. Minn./St. Michael- Albertville HS) getting their first points of the night. Vaske was able to hit a three-pointer, while Voight scored on a layup that gave CSS a comfortable 41-27 lead.

Minutes later, Hannah Compton (Anoka, Minn./Crosby-Ironton HS) scored her first points on a three-pointer, and on the ensuing possession, Imdieke hit a shot beyond-the-arc, coming on an assist from Ashley Faur (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS), giving CSS a 19-point lead.

The Auggies closed out the third quarter going on a 14-1 run, cutting its deficit to 49-41 heading into the final quarter.

The Saints got a trio of key shots to fall early in the fourth quarter, as Carlson got one to fall and Imdieke converted a pair of jumpers.

A layup by Lind with a minute and a half to play gave CSS a six-point lead over the Auggies, and after late free throws to seal the deal, St. Scholastica walked away tonight with a 64-58 victory over the Auggies.
