ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team hit the road today and played Macalester College in an MIAC match Saturday afternoon. The Saints only managed to give up one goal, but that was enough for the Scots to get the 1-0 win. The Scots improve to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while the Saints drop to 0-10-1, 0-4-1 in the MIAC.
How it Happened
The Saints would be able to get some shots early,
Tenley Voth (Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) and
Avery Sutton (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS (Saint Mary's)) recorded shots, both saved by the Scot keeper. Macalester was able to score early in the first, Julia Hanson scored in the 22nd minute to put her team up 1-0.
Gracie Meagher (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) would record two saves in the first half, only allowing one goal heading into the second.
In the second half, both teams battled hard as the score remained the same for the entire rest of the game.
Francesca Kratochvill (Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) took a shot, but she missed left and then
Elena Davidson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Queens)) would try and tie this game up as she had a corner kick in the 69th minute, but the shot was too high. The Scots finished out the rest of the game and earned the shutout
