DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team captured its first victory of the season, defeating the Pipers from Hamline. The Saints rode two first half goals to a 2-0 victory, which was the first victory at Kenny Harkins Field.
How it Happened
The Saints broke the 0-0 tie early, when Kaitlyn Sautter (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) found the back of the net, on an assist by Avery Sutton (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS (Saint Mary's)), to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
Just three minutes later, CSS responded once again with a goal, this time from Ellie Keillor (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS), to extend its lead to 2-0.
The Saints' defense kept up its strong play, as the Saints led 2-0 at halftime.
Throughout the second half, the Saints' defense stepped up, as well as Gracie Meagher (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS), who recorded saves late, to preserve the Saints first season victory by a score of 2-0.
