DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team hosted its conference rival, the Auggies from Augsburg,  this afternoon in a rainy contest. The Auggies took an early 1-0 lead into the half, and added another goal midway through the second half to defeat CSS by a score of 2-0. 

How it Happened
The Auggies offense came out firing, recording two shots before finding the back of the net in the 11th minute, taking an early 1-0 lead over the Saints. 

The Saints had a pair of attempts to try to even the score, with shots by Gabrielle Eckman (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) and Abigail Shrode (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton HS), but they were for not, as the Auggies still held its lead. 

Midway through the second half, Augsburg scored its second goal of the afternoon, extending the lead to 2-0. 

CSS tried for a late push, as Shrode and Avery Sutton (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS (Saint Mary's)) both got shots up, but the Auggies defense was able to shut down the Saints' attempts, taking today's match by a score of 2-0. 

Home Finale
The Saints (1-13-2, 1-5-2) will be back in action on Wednesday, where they will host its home finale against Concordia-Moorhead. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
