How it Happened
The Saints defense stepped up early in this one, forcing the Knights to punt on back-to-back possessions. The Saints ended the first quarter gaining yards on the ground, with rushes from West and Nick Schlender (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) gave CSS great field position. After a 20-yard pass to Weber, Schlender was able to find the endzone on a nine-yard run, extending CSS' lead to 14-0.
Later in the quarter, the Knights cracked the scoreboard on a brief two-play drive that ended in a touchdown, as St. Scholastica's lead was trimmed to 14-7.
