DULUTH, Minn. — The College of St. Scholastica football program announced four student-athletes as its 2025 Standout Scholar-Athletes, recognizing players who met both playing-time and academic benchmarks during the season.
Sophomore linebacker Sam Haug, sophomore defensive lineman Gabe Kattchee (La Crosse WI./Logan HS), senior offensive lineman Cody Schneider (Plainview, MN/Plainview-Elgin-Millville HS), and senior defensive back Ian Strusz (Albertville, MN/St. Michael-Albertville HS) earned the honor for their hard work academically, as well as strong impact on the field throughout the 2025 season.
Haug was one of the Saints' most productive defenders in 2025, finishing with 50 total tackles, including 27 solo stops, while adding 5.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks across nine games. He also recorded four pass breakups and a forced fumble, ranking among the team's leaders at linebacker.
Kattchee provided consistent production along the defensive front, playing in all 10 games and totaling 41 tackles, including 5.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also forced a fumble and recovered one, returning it for 11 yards, highlighting his impact in disruptive situations.
Strusz anchored the Saints' secondary during his senior season, appearing in all 10 games while recording 49 tackles and three interceptions for 26 yards. He also posted four pass breakups, finishing second on the team in picks while providing steady coverage on the back end.
Schneider served as a fixture on the Saints' offensive line in 2025, starting the majority of games and helping St. Scholastica generate more than 3,600 yards of total offense over the 10-game season. The senior lineman was part of a unit that averaged 136.6 rushing yards and 226.5 passing yards per game.
Criteria for earning recognition was to start in more than 80 percent of games (or appear in at least 90 percent of contests), while also carrying a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.6.
