DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team hosted the Bennies from St. Benedict yesterday afternoon, and unfortunately for the Saints, St. Benedict was able to score two goals in each half, handing the Saints a 4-1 defeat at home.
How it Happened
The Bennies began the match with a quick start, scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes, to take an early 2-0 lead over the Saints.
St. Benedict's offense pressed hard for the remainder of the second half, but the Saints defense stepped up and kept the score 2-0 at halftime.
In the 59th minute, the Saints were able to cut the deficit in half, as Tenley Voth (Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) was able to find the back of the goal, on assists by Avery Sutton (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS (Saint Mary's)) and Peyton Mathiasen (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS), as the score now sat at 2-1.
In the back third of the half, the Bennies scored two more times, capturing a 4-1 victory over St. Scholastica.
