WINONA, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team traveled to Winona today, in a road matchup against the Cardinals from St. Mary's. After the Cardinals scored early and took a 1-0 lead into the half, the Saints responded with a goal of their own, as this match ended in a 1-1 draw.
How it Happened
The Cardinals broke the 0-0 tie early, scoring in the fourth minute, to take a 1-0 lead over CSS.
The Saints had a few opportunities to tie the game in the first half, as shots by Tenley Voth (Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS), Avery Sutton (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS (Saint Mary's)), and Karissa Beaston (Madera, Calif./Shattuck St. Mary's HS (Minn.)) all just missed the net.
After the Cardinals tried to extend its lead to 2-0, the Saints found the back of the net in the 64th minute, when Abigail Shrode (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton HS) scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1.
Gracie Meagher (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) made some big saves for the Saints down the stretch, as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Saints (1-10-2, 1-3-2) will be back in action tomorrow, where they will host UW-Superior at Kenny Harkins Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
