DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey returned back to Mars Lakeview Arena Saturday Night after traveling to Northfield, Minn, yesterday to open a series with St. Olaf College. It was a back-and-forth battle Friday night, but the Saints scored two unanswered goals in the third to hang on to the 7-4 victory.  Tonight would be another great game as both teams played hard, but the Saints would manage to hold off St. Olaf comeback and secure the 4-2 win, 10th on the season, and now sit on top in the MIAC standings.

How it Happened
The first period would end up scoreless, the Saints would get one power-play opportunity to the Oles two. St. Olaf would have 11 shots on goal, compared to the Saints' 9.

The second period would heat up quickly as Junior Arkhip Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) scored just 33 seconds into the second period to put the Saints on the board. His twin brother Filimon Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) and teammate Nathan Driver (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada/River East Collegiate(Virden Oil Capitals MJHL)) would be credited for the assists.

Carsen Richels (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS(University of New Hampshire)) would find his rhythm as he scored the next two goals for the Saints, the first one was at 16:32 and the second clocked in at 9:11. The Ledenkov twins had both of the assists on each goal by Richels. Heading into the third period, the Saints would have the 3-0 lead.

As we saw from Friday's action, St. Olaf would not give up that easily, as they countered with a goal of their own at the 12:31 spot. The Saints would do a pretty good job holding off the Oles, but an extra attacker would give them another score to now only be down by one goal with just about a minute left.

The Oles would once again pull their goaltender, but Arkhip got the puck from his brother Filimon and Richels to score the empty-netter seconds later for his second goal of the game, his 16th goal of the season.

Goaltending
Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) secured the win with 30 saves on the night for St. Scholastica.Tyler Laureault lead the Oles team with 29 saves, respectively.

Up Next
